DESCRIPTION:One of the oldest incorporated communities\, Parker’s Landing began in 1845 when David C. Parker staked his claim amongst the Chinook-speaking Indigenous community and named the area Parkersville. By the 1870s\, merchants had purchased much of the land neighboring Parkersville\, giving rise to the community known today as Washougal. \nSpecial thanks to this week’s sponsor\, the Camas-Washougal Community Chest. ***This tour is free to Camas-Washougal residents*** \n\nSummer is the right time to wander through and learn the stories of people who have lived\, worked\, and carved out their place in Clark County. Our history tours offer a fascinating glimpse through the windows of time\, offering a mix of memories\, research\, and architectural details.\nFor each tour\, guides will lead up to 25 people for approximately a mile\, making frequent stops along the way to view buildings\, tell stories\, and answer questions. Good walking shoes and balance aids are recommended; terrain varies and consists mostly of city sidewalks.\nTours happen rain or shine\, so please dress for the weather. Comfortable shoes and water are recommended. There are no restroom stops on the tours.\n\nTour are held most Saturdays throughout the summer. Each weekend highlights a different destination.\n\n\nCamas and Washougal residents\, please select the “Residents Only” ticket when purchasing your free tour. Residency will be confirmed the morning of the tour. \nMembers please use code Summer2022 when purchasing your tour.
