Hop-On, Hop-Off Tour Guide

 

Organization: Clark County Historical Museum and American Queen Voyages
Location: Camas, Washington
Status: Paid Stipend ($200 per shift), W-9 Contract
Days/Hours: Alternating Wednesdays and/or Saturdays, 7:30 am to 12:30 pm

The Hop-On, Hop-Off Tour Guide provides narration about history, fun facts and other details about the stops, areas the tour passes through, and general history of Camas-Washougal on a tour bus as it drives a loop through the area.

RESPONSIBILITIES

      • Greet all guests promptly at scheduled tour times
      • Outline the tour and timeline before beginning
      • Provide narrations for guests regarding sites along the route
      • Follow scripts and prompts provided by the Clark County Historical Museum
      • Clearly provide information to guests in an engaging manner
      • Answer questions that the guests have
      • Demonstrate knowledge of the local area based on scripts, notes, and training provided
      • Remain calm, friendly, and enthusiastic at all times
      • Comply with all health and safety protocols set out by AQV and CCHM.

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

      • Strong verbal and presentation skills and ability to tell an engaging story
      • Previous experience working directly with the public is strongly preferred. Previous museum, docent, volunteer, and/or public speaking experience, are also preferred.
      • Ability to work independently; must be self-directed and proactive.
      • Must be prompt and on time for all shifts.

PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS:

      • This position requires light walking or significant times of standing. Physical demands associated with the essential functions include talking, hearing, and seeing.
      • Required are the abilities to communicate effectively verbally; and to utilize spatial, visual, and tactile discrimination.

TRAINING/REIMBURSEMENT:

      • Clark County Historical Museum and American Queen Voyages will provide a 2 to 3-hour training session and all materials.
